Advanced Tax Law is designed for students and tax professionals who are ready to move beyond basic tax preparation into more complex federal tax concepts and business transactions.
The course explores advanced individual and business taxation, including partnership and S corporation basis, shareholder and partner transactions, capital gains and losses, passive activity rules, depreciation recapture, business dispositions, multi-state considerations, and complex tax compliance issues.
Students will learn how different transactions affect taxable income, basis, deductions, distributions, gains and losses, and reporting requirements across multiple tax forms.
The course also emphasizes research, documentation, tax-return analysis, and recognizing situations that require additional professional review.
